Self Care Whilst Stuck At Home

Looking after yourself during this hard time should be your number 1 priority. It's so easy to fall into the trap of waking up late and not making the most out of your day. I know so many people that are struggling with being kept inside, away from people they love and I can honestly say we are all in the same boat, you've just got to focus on the positive points. So hopefully, there will be some ideas in this post that will help you take care of your mental and physical health.


1. Travel planning

There are many restrictions regarding travel at the moment but there are no restrictions whatsoever on planning for the future. It's a great time to start saving your money and saving for your ultimate holiday. Create your own bucket list, take a look at pinterest for some travel inspo and get started! You can create an itinerary for each place too, this will boost your spirits and get you looking forward instead of worrying about what is happening now.


2. Vision Boards

I love creating vision boards for all kinds of subjects. I have one for my travels, quotes for my emotions and a family vision board which includes what I want my family to look like in the future. You can create seasonal vision boards, travel vision boards, personal growth etc, the options are limitless. They're great at reminding you of why you're doing what you're doing and for me they give me something to look forward too when I'm feeling down.


3. Skin care routine

Creating something you can stick too, such as a skin care routine will help keep you feeling positive about yourself and ultimately keep your spirits high. Even just having one night a week where you make yourself a bubble bath with a glass of wine and a good book can do so much for your mental health. There's a lot of stress and uncertainty going around at the moment and by doing something so simple such as looking after your skin or relaxing in the bath can do wonders for calming you down.


4. Exercise

Now is a great time to work on your body. It's so easy to become lazy when stuck at home so create your own or use a template for a workout routine you can do at home. You'll feel a lot better once you have. It keeps you busy and fit so what is there to lose? With gyms being closed too at the moment, there's no excuse as to why you can't create a workout at home. Do some squats, the plank or sit-ups. No matter how small it's better than nothing.


5. Gratitude

Writing down or simply thinking about what your grateful for or what makes you happy can do so much. By starting your day off with positive thoughts, you're more likely to have a better day. Think about what makes you happy and do more of it! You'll see your mood change instantly.


6. Connect with loved ones

Family, friends and partners bring a lot of joy into our lives, so instead of dwelling on when you're going to see each other again, pick up the phone or facetime and give them a call. You'll be surprised how much happier you'll feel when you do this and you'll be making them happy too!


7. Unplug from social media

Now, we all know that social media can be the devil when it comes to bringing us down. The news is always so negative and there can be a lot of negativity sometimes. So just unplug yourself and take some time out. Do a few things on this list and you'll feel so much better.


I know this time is super hard for everyone but use this time to take care of yourself. Don't let this bring you down. It won't last forever.
